Uni Blues is saddened to hear of the passing of 1952 Premiership player, Hal Orton.Hal Orton

Originally from the Beechworth area, Hal studied Arts-Law at Melbourne Uni in the early 1950s before graduating as a solicitor.

Hal was a quality big man with the “famed University Blues” and a “quality bloke” and when he moved to Hamilton after completing his articles, he was highly sought after by both Hamilton and Imperials however injury prevented his football career from extending beyond his university days.

Hal became a local sporting identity around Hamilton over the next 30+ years holding key posts in St Andrews Junior Football Club, Hamilton Junior Football league and was chairman of the South West Football League tribunal.

Hal and wife Dorothy retired to Ocean Grove in the late 80’s.
