On Friday July 9, Uni Blues stalwart Justin Jamieson tied the knot with Vicky Thai in Bali.
Since 1990, Jamo has filled an extraordinary number of roles at Uni Blues. Once upon a time, he was actually a player - a ruckman with a prodigious leap and ponytail that helped him snare a spot in the VAFA State team. Since that time he's also been Reserves Coach, Master of Ceremonies at several functions, club runner, and of course, founder of Spa Pavvy.
In a terrific demonstration of Uni Blues’ ability to form friendships, almost 20 former players made the journey to Bali for the nuptials. In a credit to Jamo, the occasion brought together people who have played for Uni Blues across four decades, starting with Turk in the 70s.
It prompted the selection of JAMO'S WEDDING XVIII:
JAMO'S WEDDING XVIII:
B: Hugh Nailon, Dan Hayter, Damo McAloon
HB: Matty Unsworth, Stephen Meade, Toby McIntyre.
C: Mike Sill, Tom Hutchins, Wayne 'Turk' Carroll
HF: Greg Taylor, Steve Carroll, Kristian 'Goblin' Jamieson
F: John Anderson (Grova), Patrick 'Pudding' O'Donnell, Jerry Wolveridge
R: Jamo, Matty Mudge, Darrell Gust
Interchange: Nick Christie
Captain: Jamo
Coach: Steve Carroll
President: Turk Carroll
Drinks: David Thai
There was also a very impressive list of Blues legends who were unable to attend the wedding, and who would have made competition for a spot in Jamo's XVIII very tough.
