FARMER SALTS GOES POULTRY HERDING AT RUPERTSWOOD

When he packed his thermos for the drive to Rupertswood on Saturday, Alan Salter was no doubt plotting a victory for the Uni Blues Under 19 team.  With his years of coaching experience and tactical acumen, he knew that the boys would need to be prepared for every eventuality.  However, one prospect that Salts did not imagine that he, coach Matt Embling and the Under 19 players would need to contend with was a flock of feathered friends.

As these photos show, the game was interrupted by a ground invasion by Rupertswood's web-footed population.  Never one to shirk a physical confrontation, Salts crossed the white line and took on the beasts in the interests of restoring order.

An unofficial caption competition for the snaps below has already generated these suggestions:

"One of the more difficult teams that Salts has coached."

"Almost harder than kicking into the breeze at De La."

"He should have called for a count."
