Mick Dwyer & Jack Watts

Ulverstone in mid-July?  It may not be everyone's idea of the preferred destination for a winter break but the trek to Tasmania on the weekend had its rewards for Jack Watts, Al Austin and Dan Nicholson.  The young guns from Uni Blues were members of the VAFA Under 23 squad that proved far too good for the TFC representative team.

Dr Goober on the mend

The thoughts of the Uni Blues community were with former player Geoff Allen and his family over the weekend. “Goober” Allen, a popular player at Blues in the early 90’s, currently serves as Geelong’s club doctor and suffered a dramatic heart attack on Friday night out on Football Park as he watched his beloved Cats undergo their pre-game routine.

Justin Jamieson's Wedding and the Bali XVIII

On Friday July 9, Uni Blues stalwart Justin Jamieson tied the knot with Vicky Thai in Bali.

Since 1990, Jamo has filled an extraordinary number of roles at Uni Blues. Once upon a time, he was actually a player - a ruckman with a prodigious leap and ponytail that helped him snare a spot in the VAFA State team. Since that time he's also been Reserves Coach, Master of Ceremonies at several functions, club runner, and of course, founder of Spa Pavvy.

In a terrific demonstration of Uni Blues’ ability to form friendships, almost 20 former players made the journey to Bali for the nuptials. In a credit to Jamo, the occasion brought together people who have played for Uni Blues across four decades, starting with Turk in the 70s.

Blues remember Peter Schauble

E-mail Print PDF

Uni Blues note with sadness the passing of former clubman Peter Schauble last week.

Peter emerged from the dominant Blues’ Under 19 teams of the mid-70s to help transform the senior team into an A Section premiership contender. His service to the club was recognized with the awarding of MUFC life membership in 1986.

Peter will be fondly remembered by his former teammates.
