Jack Watts stellar 2008 football season continues on its merry way!
After winning Blues B&F, polling in 14 of the sixteen games in which he played, Jack is now carrying on his great form around various county grounds in Ireland, representing the Australian Amateur Football Council's All Australian under 23 team.
Jack arrived at Melbourne University in March 2006 and started the year in Blues Under 19s. By the end of the season he was the starting ruckman in the seniors' finals campaign, managing 8 senior games for the year.
In 2007, Jack cemented his place in the senior team and in doing so, caught the eyes of VAFA selectors, gaining selection in the VAFA's Under 19 representative team, playing against the AFL Queensland's Under 21 team.
In 2008, Jack was selected for the VAFA's Under 23 representative side, who took on the SAAFL team at the Junction Oval. The Vics won the game comfortably and Jack was awarded the best on ground medal. It was this performance which earned him a place on the much sought after All Australian tour of Ireland and wearing Australian colours.
Jack didn't let all this success distract his endeavours for Blues, he just keep rolling along, week after week playing outstanding football for Blues. So outstanding in fact, another accolade and reward came his way in September when he won A Section's Woodrow Medal for the Best & Fairest player in the competition.
Everyone at Blues is thoroughly proud and thrilled with Jack's magnificent effort, not to mention envious of his Irish escapade! Well done Jack.
