The Reserves can’t stop winning. Three wins from three in pre-season and a perfect start in the season opener at T.H King. With a swirling wind cutting across the ground, the first quarter saw the St Kevin’s boys take their chances while the Blues eased into the contest. A 55 meter screamer from Jack Wood kick started a swathe of opportunities and goals in the second quarter. Improved kicking and high intensity pressure was the name of the game in the second quarter and was followed up again in the third term.
A goal in the first 40 seconds of the third quarter was the perfect start for a resurgent and resilient Blues outfit. The wind however was in St Kevin’s favour which saw them claw their way back to a 1 point deficit. It was not the ideal final term with some cheap turnovers gifting St Kevin’s a chance. Our front line was too strong with Andy Wettenhall and Wood menacing the defence while Binnsy was doing the job across the park. With the wind in our sails, the Reserves kicked their way to a resounding 9 point away win against a fierce rival.
