Seniors
Another week and another huge head start for the opposition. This time Old Brighton got out to a 9 goal lead at half time. As opposed to last week and despite a rampaging second half, the Uni Blues were unable to overcome a stoic opposition. George de Crespigny, Dave Paton and Andrew Lowcock marked anything that went up forward with de Crespigny slotting 6. Mark McLeod worked hard down back while Ben McConnell and Jeremy Mugavin got plenty of the ball through the middle.
University Blues: 1-5 2-8 8-11 13-13-91
Old Brighton: 5-2 11-4 14-7 16-9-105

Reserves
Inaccuracy cost Gunga's Uni Blues Twos. 8 behinds and no goals in the final quarter told the story of the day as they went down by 6 points despite having 9 more scoring shots. A frustrating day out for many players as small mistakes forward of half-way cost the team dearly. Brant Laidlaw, Steen Balodis and Alex Suvoltos showed class running the ball while Isaac Orr did some very hard and tough work in the middle.
University Blues: 6-17-53
Old Brighton: 9-5-59
Best: B.Laidlaw, S.Balodis, A.Suvoltos, I.Orr, P.Smith, S.Roache
Goals: S.Balodis, T.Girdwood, S.Gove, B.Laidlaw, M.Lewis, T.Pryde
Club XVIII
The 2009 Clubbies train really started to get rolling after quarter time. De La Salle were on top of the ladder and going well but the Clubbies didn't let them score a goal in the 2nd and 3rd quarters while scoring 7 themselves. A big forward line of Larkin, Crawford and Quin didn't let the side down, while Kiteley and MacPhail saw plenty of the ball.
University Blues: 12-15-87
De La Salle: 4-9-33
Best: J.Kiteley, I.MacPhail, T.Calvert, A.Larkin, J.Crawford, A.Stewart
Goals: A.Larkin 3, L.Quin 2, J.Crawford, T.Granleese, V.Dislakis, J.Bailey, T.Calvert, N.Grady, D.Hayter
Under 19s
University Blues: 9-21-75
Old Trinity: 5-10-40
A lot of points were scored in the Unders game against Old Trinity but the four most important points went to Uni Blues. The first win for Matt Embling's boys was well overdue after coming up against a couple of strong sides. This will hopefully get the ball rolling for the Unders' season. Albert Weddell played a great game scoring 3 goals in a best on ground performance.
Best: Weddell, McClure, Townley, Day, Butler, Fairbairn
Goals: Weddell 3, Townley 2, Gumley, Maddocks, Mice, Selleck
