Round 12 Results - Blues Celebrate with 4 Wins
Seniors - Win windy crunch game, move into the 4
An incredibly important game for Uni Blues saw the Seniors respond in wet and windy conditions. Old Brighton were in a similar position to Blues and the 4 points were crucial for making the top four. A tight tussle in the first half saw Brighton lead early on their home ground, but the Blues played well in the third to go into the final break 16 points in front. A long and tense last quarter saw the Blues prevail by 9 points after defending stoutly. Mark Paterson played a brilliant 100th game for the Uni Blues and won the UCLA t-shirt for his efforts. Andrew Lowcock worked hard in the forward line for 2 goals. Matt Torney and David Wood were excellent in defence while Pat Hayes kicked 3 including 2 critical final quarter goals. Torney provided excellent run and rebound along with fellow defenders Mark McLeod and Al Neville. It was a solid four-quarter, team effort that could have seen any number of players in the best.

Round 11 Results
Seniors A big crowd greeted the players on the Main Oval, and the battle didn't disappoint. A high-standard first half saw a see-sawing battle, with both sides struggling to kick 2 goals in a row. As soon as one team scored, the other would answer to change the momentum of the game. Mark Paterson kicked 2 goals, proving the the General has a future as a crumbing forward. A third quarter burst from Xavier with the wind gave them a total to defend in the last, ultimately proving insurmountable despite the Blues' best efforts. Al Neville and Pat Hayes played great games for their new club and Sam Roach won the UCLA t-shirt for his efforts in the ruck. George de Crespigny also kicked two. It's back to the drawing board for Coach Kanis with a crunch game against Old Brighton coming up. Round 10 Results
Seniors Uni Blues turned at the half way mark of the season in the four and three wins on the trot. Disappointingly, they couldn't continue their good form on the Trott. The Harry Trott, that is, where Collegians managed to take the four points. The purple outfit was fired up after a couple of big losses and Uni Blues were the unlucky opposition. Veterans Andrew Lowcock, George de Crespigny and Mark Paterson were among the best for the Blues, with captain Lowcock taking home the UCLA t-shirt. Al Neville showed some class in his second game in the black and blue strip with 3 goals and the rangy Pat Smith also kicked a bag of 3. Mick Lewis continued his good form and Paddy Hayes kicked a goal in his first senior game. The loss leaves the Blues 5 and 5 with some important games coming up. Round 9 Results - Students Slip Past Scotch
Seniors
Uni Blues made it three wins on the trot with a solid win over the highly fancied Old Scotch. A big crowd assembled at the Main Oval to see Dirk Heinz kick a bag of 5 up forward and win the UCLA t-shirt. A relatively pedestrian first half made things difficult for Heinz and his team mates, but a solid effort in the 3rd quarter put the heat on Scotch and proved insurmountable. Pacman Smith and Mick Lewis kicked three each, while Matt Torney, Mark McLeod and John Meagher were solid as a rock down back. Jeremy Mugavin was slick and prosperous through the middle, and captain Andrew Lowcock continually won the hard ball and hurt the opposition.
