Uni Blues 2004

The 2004 version of Uni Blues football was a vintage to be savoured.

The senior team ended a 44-year A-Grade premiership doubt with a dominant season that culminated in a 66-point Grand Final victory over St Bernards.  It was one of three Premiership pennants to make their way to Uni Oval in the month of September, with Blues' Reserves and Club 18 teams also taking all before them and netting the ultimate prize.

Blue Bloods Graduations

andrew20graduation201020022A few weeks ago as the Uni Blues suited up to take on De La on the main, a few Blue Bloods were suiting up in a slightly different style.  It was Melbourne Business School’s MBA graduation day on Saturday 22 May and the Blue Bloods featured prominently with Cam Bradley, Andrew Henderson and Marcus Coleman (pictured) all receiving their MBA in Wilson Hall.  To round off the Uni Blues flavour to the ceremony Di Carmody, wife of John and mother of Dan, also graduated from her MBA program.

There were murmurs throughout the crowd as the Chancellor took Coley’s firm handshake and held him in conversation for sometime as his classmates waited for their moment in the sun.  Was he congratulating Coley on his fine grades, or grilling him on his exploits on the main oval or in the pavvy?  Over a few beers Coley revealed that the Chancellor was looking for his invite to Crimes Against Fashion Pavvy that the Dean had been spruiking and wanted to know if Lowcock would yet again trot out his sawn-off, woollen atrocity that he has worn to every pavvy for the last 10 years.

Congratulations to Braddles, Hendo, Coley and Di on their fine achievement.

Player Sponsorship Packages 2011

Season 2010 is fast becoming a distant memory for the University Blues Football Club.  It was another exciting year for the Blues, with the club’s Senior Reserve team winning its third consecutive premiership.  Completing a “threepeat” is no minor achievement but the club is now firmly focused on 2011. With three of the club’s four teams contesting finals last year, the coming season shapes as another opportunity to bring a premiership pennant (or four) back to Uni Oval.

Change is constant at a club like Uni Blues.  Over the summer the club farewelled Dan Nicholson, who made his way to the Melbourne Football Club via the AFL rookie draft, and welcomed newly-appointed Senior Assistant Coach Fergus Watts.  With Senior Coach John Kanis overseeing a productive pre-season, all at the club are looking forward to the return of VAFA football to Uni Oval in early April.

A key component of the Club’s off field success is its Blue Bloods Membership/ Player Sponsorship program. The program was launched with much success in 2009 and continued to grow last year.  We hope that in season 2011 we will continue build on this success. The aims of Blue Bloods are:

  • Creating an active social network for the University Blues Community;
  • Generating an increased involvement in the club by parents and supporters by organising designated Blue Bloods social events during the season;
  • Generating an increased amount of sponsorship income for the club; and
  • Reducing the financial burden on players via paying for subscriptions, University fees and playing gear

As in 2010, there are three levels of Blue Blood Membership for season 2011:
