Uni Blues 2004

The 2004 version of Uni Blues football was a vintage to be savoured.

The senior team ended a 44-year A-Grade premiership doubt with a dominant season that culminated in a 66-point Grand Final victory over St Bernards.  It was one of three Premiership pennants to make their way to Uni Oval in the month of September, with Blues' Reserves and Club 18 teams also taking all before them and netting the ultimate prize.
Six years can seem a long time in football but this video sample from the vaults suggests that apart from changes to personnel and hairlines, the character of Uni Blues is enduring and some things have not changed at all.  Tim Muhlebach's spring is undiminished, JK's voice still rings out towards the Aths Track, Jackson Brooke is not to be trifled with, Matt Torney and Paul Butko can still take an eye-catching grab, Quinton Gleeson (winner of the 2004 Woodrow Medal) can still get a kick (although sometimes a quick handball might be a better option) and the ball still disappears from view into the massive mits of Andrew "Ace" Lowcock.
