Blues Brief Round 6, 2009
Round 5 Review
Blues had their first look at Sportscover Arena for 2009 last Saturday in a match up with competition frontrunners, St Bedes Mentone. JK's charges faced a stiff Elsternwick breeze and some stiff opposition and despite being competitive all day were not able to be the first A-Section club to prise the four points from the boys of Brindisi. In the early encounter, the Reserves continued their recent winning form with a convincing victory over St Bedes that was capped with a 10 goal final term.
Away from the "Home of Family Football", the Blues Under 19's started well but struggled in the second half against a stronger De La outfit. The Clubbies faced an undefeated Collegians team who, keen to atone for the loss in last year's finals, handed our boys an early morning defeat at the Harry Trott Oval.

Round 6 Preview
It's back to the white picket fence and bountiful afternoon tea of Uni Oval this week for the Uni Blues faithful. The club plays host to Marcellin.
The Maroon machine opened its account last week in the seniors courtesy of an upset win over Old Scotch. John Kanis and his coaching brains trust will be doing all to ensure that Marcellin does not add to that tally tomorrow while Gunga will no doubt have his Reserves team primed to retain the momentum from their goal spree last week at Headquarters.
Plenty of action on the Crawford Oval tomorrow. The dew comes off when the Clubbies host Old Xavs II, followed by the infamous "Crescent Cup" when the Blues' Unders take on varsity rivals the Blacks.
Go Blues!
Events
All Blues players from the late 90's are encouraged to make their way to Uni Oval via Naughtons this Saturday to help celebrate the 10 year Reunion for the 1999 Reserves Premiership Team.
Two members of the team that are presently overseas, captain Leigh Tweddle and utility Cam Roydhouse, are sufficiently disappointed to be missing the reunion that they have wired funds direct to the Naughtons bar to help kickstart the celebrations. For full details, simply click: here
