Blues Brief Round 1 2009

WEEKEND PREVIEW

Round One of the VAFA kicks off this weekend and Uni Blues will host last season's A-Grade runners up Collegians at Uni Oval tomorrow, giving the club the chance to unfurl the two premiership flags that it added to the trophy cabinet in September.

Saturday's feast of University football will begin when the Ormond College Clock Tower strikes 9:20 am and the Uni Blues Club 18 outfit become the first team to grace Uni Oval this season.  At the completion of the Club 18 game (approximately 11:30 am), the 2008 premiership flags of both the Club 18 and Reserves teams will be unfurled.

A short stroll over College Crescent at the Crawford Oval, the Uni Blues Under 19's will take on Beaumaris from 2:00 pm, marking the team's debut under new coach Matt Embling.

Following the senior game, which promises to be a solid opener for John Kanis' charges, all teams will return to the Pavvy for post-match refreshments and a BBQ.
